3rd – 5th Grade
TEACHER Mrs. Carla Tibbetts and Mr. David Schroeder
About the Class
In the classroom, instruction occurs centering on the principle that God is the Creator of all that exists, and therefore all knowledge is interrelated and points back to Him. Biblical standards of conduct are applied in all areas of classroom life, acknowledging that Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
Our instructors use the student’s God-given strengths at each stage of growth to help them learn. In the 3rd and 4th grade years’ students enjoy memorizing, singing, and rhyming, so a solid foundation is laid in each subject of study at this age. The 5th grade students are becoming inquisitive, so their ability to research, reason, and discern truth are being developed. The classroom continually encourages students to develop skills to equip them to be lifetime learners.
During these three years, students will be introduced to Latin. Because Latin is an orderly and precise language, it offers students a beautiful grasp on the intricate workings of language. It awakens them to the birth of many words in our English language as well as gives them a base to the beginnings of the romance languages. The Latin language cultivates knowledge of purposeful communication and helps students understand the power of words and how to best use them to the glory of God.
Our classroom instructors have high expectations for student learning. Students learn to love the subjects that their instructors teach and cheerfully follow the godly example represented by their instructors. Our small classroom environment allows your student’s instructors to know and serve your student on an individual basis. Your student will know they are loved, encouraged, and uplifted in prayer.
Bible classes are taught by both the classroom teachers and a Bible instructor. Students participate in weekly Chapel with the Kindergarten through 8th grades. Chapel is led by the Abiding Savior Pastoral staff. Our Pastors also offer a monthly Lyceum to address social issues appropriate for the students’ developmental age through a Biblical World view.
Students participate in Specials’ classes offered twice a week in the areas of PE, Music and Art. Keyboarding and computer skills are taught within the classrooms.
